Touch is a bilingual Australian Short Film written and directed by Ghirija Jayarraj. The story explores the plight of Asylum seekers in Australia and makes a social commentary on the attitudes of Australians towards Asylum seekers. The film was shot in Australia and India with a cast of over 30 people. The film was line produced by Poorman Productions in India. This film has been an official selection in various International Film festivals and has won the Best Short Film in the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival in April 2017. It has also won the Best Actress award in Creation International Film Festival
Synopsis
A reluctant Tamil interpreter fed up of her fight against the situation facing Asylum seekers in Australia is ready to walk away from it all when she drawn into the world of Selvi, a victim of war.
